Orbea pronounced Or-bay-ah is named after the brothers who founded the company in 1840. Initially, the company manufactured rifles and guns. The company has been making bikes since the early 1930s and winning Tour de France stages for just as long. Not forgetting, Orbea bikes were ridden by the gold medal winners in both mountain and road events at the Beijing Olympics. In the late ’60s, the Orbea company became a co-op.

Many of the Co-op owners are relatives and long time Orbea employees. All Orbea Bikes are assembled at the Orbea Factory based in the heart of the Basque country in Northern Spain. Orbea is one of the oldest and best-respected bike companies in Europe.
